Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of movies do children make during the course?

Children create short films they invent themselves, usually 5–8 minutes long. The themes are playful and age-appropriate, such as adventures, mysteries, comedies, or seasonal stories (like Halloween or summer adventures). They take part in every step: writing the story, acting, filming, and even designing posters and tickets for the premiere.

When are the film courses for children?

We currently offer one format:
Thursday Afternoon Film Course – 6 weeks from 3:30 PM-5:00 PM

Coming Soon: Weekend Workshops – 6 sessions of 1.5 hours each.
Holiday Camps – 5 days, 3 hours per day (during school holidays).

Is filmmaking experience necessary?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for beginners. Children don’t need to know anything about cameras or acting before joining. They will learn step by step in a fun, hands-on way.

What is the age range for the courses?

Our course is designed for children aged 7 to 9 years old. Within this age group, we keep the activities playful and simple while still challenging children to use their creativity and imagination.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the format:
Thursday afternoon course, 6 sessions of 1.5 hours each: €180

Where are the courses?

Our courses take place at  Buurthuis Lydia,  Roelof Hartplein 2a, 1071 TT Amsterdam

Do parents get to see the finished movie?

Yes! At the end of the workshop or camp, we host a mini premiere where families can watch the film together (with popcorn 🍿). Parents also receive a digital copy of the film to keep.

How do you handle my child’s photos and videos?

At Mini Movie Makers Club, we take children’s privacy seriously:

  • Filming: Your child will be filmed during the course to create the final short film.

  • Private viewing: The completed film is shared only with participating families via a secure download link.

  • Deletion of raw footage: All unused footage (“rushes”) is permanently deleted within 7 days of delivery.

  • Optional promotional use: With your consent, we may use short clips or images (faces blurred, no names) for social media or our portfolio. You do not control which clips are used, but footage not used for promotion is deleted.

  • Responsibility: Once the film is delivered, parents are responsible for any further sharing. The club is not responsible if families share the film beyond their household.

This ensures your child’s work is safe, private, and only used with permission.

What is the language of the club?

Instructions are given in both English and Dutch. However, the scripts and final films are always in Dutch.

Should I prepare a snack for my child?

Yes, please. We recommend sending your child with a small, healthy snack and a drink for the break. If your child has any food allergies, intolerances, or sensitivities, please let us know in advance so we can ensure a safe environment for everyone.
